Reflecting on the Dead Assignment
So this was the Day of The Dead assignment that was done in the fall semester around the time of October called "Never Just Watch". It took me maybe about 3 to 4 days to complete. This project was kind of liberating for me because I was able to let my imagination do the work. I had never really experienced a loss before in my life apart from bird’s, fishes and once a dog but to me those occurrences didn’t really spark a good story. At first I had no idea what I was going to write about but once I let my mind do all of the writing I couldn’t stop with the story. The hardest part for me was cutting down on some of the writing because Mr. E told me to do so. I felt like it was losing so much even though it was just a couple of words here and there. I would say that I learned how develop a story out of thin air with only a topic to base myself off of. To say the truth I don’t think that I would have to do anything differently. Mr. E being a great explainer did a great job. Again I don’t think that anything should have to change about the project. I think that other students would maybe enjoy working on this because at the end of the writing assignment we got to frame it with a nice little black material thing which I’m not so sure how to name. A rubric can be said to be the “rules” or an outline of how to do any certain project. It states how something must be done in order to be at its best. It also states the grades that can be given if any component would be missing for ex. A, B, C, D or F. The rubric. Huh. … I don’t remember there being a rubric for this project but if there had been I’m sure that it would have helped because then I would have known what it was exactly that I needed to do and what was asked for.
