Digital Reflection

The famously old Digital story project!! Hard work but it was actually fun. I actually don’t really remember when it was assigned maybe at the beginning of the spring semester. This took me a loooong time to finish. I’m going to give this project about a month or so of duration. I didn’t finish it until Saturday the 7th. There were a couple of different components to it. The essay, the narrating of the essay, the pictures and the putting together of all of these things into a movie sort of thing. I’m going to have to say that my favorite part of this was the making of the movie. Even though I have to admit it was one of my least parts as well. I enjoyed seeing the end product. Putting it all together was really frustrating because I wanted the slides to go with what I was saying and then after the transitions where added all of the pictures moved from where I had put them. But it was a fun experience as well. The least favorite part of mine apart from the moving of the slides was the narration. You had to talk really loud into the microphone and you couldn’t mess up and worst of all I had to hear myself over and over again. And I don’t know about everybody else but I’m not used to listening to myself so it was weird. I learned many things from this project. I have movie maker on my computer but if it hadn’t have been for this project I would have never figured out how to use it and would have never used it. After finishing the slides/movie I ended up burning it into a “movie.” So now I have it and can watch it whenever I want. Doing this project has given me ideas for other pictures that I have. It’s a wonderful way to save your memories. This project had different things to it and I don’t want to say that I would change everything. It was all a matter of how prepared I was how much time I put into it and how much material I had as well as what I was focusing on meaning my topic. I think that there were many and will always be many variables to this project and you just have to control them for this project to work. That’s what I have to say to Mr. E as well as “I advise you that next time you do this project (go ahead and do it is fun of course if there is enthusiasm and the directions are clear) make sure you give the students enough time to work on it. Push them and keep an eye on them because remember they are sitting in front of computer with internet access. Oh and please do not start on another big project if you are not done with this one!!!!!” That’s all I have to say about that. It wasn’t just the rubric that helped but the pieces of paper that came along every now and then with full content of directions. The rubric of course helped because it made it clear exactly what I was being asked for. In the end I have to say that I really enjoyed working on the digital story. Thank You Mr.E!!! =)
